The actor died due to Parkinson's related illness. Holm’s agent confirmed the news in a statement, which says, 'It is with great sadness that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88,' they said. 'He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer.' It was noted that Holm’s illness was Parkinson’s related, adding that the 'charming, kind and ferociously talented actor will be missed hugely'.
