U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued an urgent warning to American citizens in Iraq, urging them to leave immediately and not travel to the country for any reason. The advisory comes amid growing threats from Iran-aligned groups which may target U.S. citizens, diplomatic facilities, businesses, universities, energy infrastructure, airports, hotels, and other locations associated with the United States. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad emphasized that Americans remaining in Iraq are at significant risk. The warning follows recent violent incidents, including a drone attack on a fuel warehouse in northern Iraq and the kidnapping of American journalist Shelly Kittleson in Baghdad.
