Israel has formally accused Egypt of violating the 1978 peace treaty by deploying troops and building offensive military bases in the Sinai Peninsula. Israeli envoy Yechiel Leiter called Egypt’s actions a “serious violation” and warned of rising diplomatic tensions. Reports indicate Israel is closely monitoring Egypt’s military buildup, with videos circulating on social media showing increased activity near the Israel-Gaza border. The tensions come amid Egypt’s role in ceasefire negotiations and its rejection of U.S.-proposed Palestinian resettlement plans.
