Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa reaffirmed Damascus’s position on the status of the Golan Heights, stating that the territory remains Syrian and cannot be ceded or recognised by any other state. He noted that more than 134 countries continue to support Syria’s claim over the area. Al-Sharaa also said Syria has played a role in stabilising the region by preventing certain regional powers from using its territory to launch attacks or fuel instability. He added that the government has taken significant steps to regain control over weapons proliferation within the country, describing ongoing efforts to consolidate authority and restore order after years of conflict.
