Saudi Arabia’s energy sector is facing significant disruption after the Iran war broke out in late February. The wave of attacks on key Saudi oil and gas facilities slashed an estimated 1.3 million barrels per day from output and transport capacity. The strikes hit critical infrastructure, including pipelines and processing sites, forcing a diversion of crude flows and straining the kingdom’s export network. With the Strait of Hormuz effectively blocked, Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline has become its primary route for crude shipments, amplifying the impact of the disruptions. While responsibility for the attacks remains unclear, Saudi defenses have intercepted multiple missiles and drones in recent weeks.
