NFL: ‘Watch out for criminals looking to scam consumers’
The NFL is warning fans about counterfeit merchandise and tickets for this year's Super Bowl. Our message to NFL fans today is simple. Watch out for criminals who are looking to scam consumers and illegally profit off the popularity of the NFL, said Bonnie Jarrett who is Senior Counsel of NFL Intellectual Property. The NFL along with the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center announced the seizure of approximately 180,000 counterfeit items worth an estimated 22.7 million during a Super Bowl week press conference in Phoenix. But scoring a ticket to this week's Super Bowl could also be tricky, "every year we see fans who arrive at the stadium on game day only to be turned away because their tickets are not valid," said Michael Buchwald who works for the NFL Senior Counsel.
