Speaking at the White House on May 21, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed credit for ending the recent military standoff between India and Pakistan. Trump said he personally called both Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Sharif, describing them as friends. He asserted trade diplomacy was key to preventing further conflict. Trump made the comments during a meeting with South African President Ramaphosa, where he also defended past mediation efforts. India has consistently denied any U.S. role in de-escalation. Watch
