A routine training mission of the Indian Air Force ended in disaster as a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet disappeared from radar and later crashed in Assam, killing both pilots. The powerful twin-seat combat aircraft had taken off from the Jorhat airbase before communication was lost with ground control at around 7:42 pm. Officials later confirmed that the aircraft went down in a remote hilly region of Karbi Anglong district, nearly 60 kilometres away.
