President Donald Trump delivered one of his most forceful statements yet on the U.S. drug crisis, vowing to intensify strikes on Venezuelan drug traffickers and suggesting the operations could soon expand to targets on land. Speaking during a news conference after his final cabinet meeting of the year, Trump said drug traffickers were responsible for more than two hundred thousand American deaths last year, calling the numbers “devastating” and the families “ruined forever.” Trump said U.S. strikes have already brought drug-related deaths “way down” and warned that more aggressive action is coming: “We know where they live… we know the routes… we’re taking those son of a bitches out.” He unleashed a blistering attack on Joe Biden, accusing him of allowing dangerous individuals and record levels of narcotics into the country, claiming some migrants had “the eyes of a killer” and linking them to nearly 11,888 murders. Trump framed the escalating U.S. operations as a fight to stop young Americans from dying within “sixty seconds” of taking a single pill, promising: “We won’t let it continue to happen.”
