At MILAN 2026, Rajnath Singh framed the world’s oceans as the new strategic frontline. With 74 nations participating, this edition marks the most inclusive naval engagement hosted by India. Singh warned that terror networks, piracy, trafficking and cyber threats are testing maritime security like never before. He underlined that no single navy can tackle these challenges alone and called for deeper interoperability and shared commitment. The sea phase beginning February 21 will feature complex drills in anti-submarine warfare, air defence and search and rescue. Initiated in 1995 with four nations, MILAN has evolved into a major multilateral platform. Singh said India will continue playing a constructive role as a trusted global friend, pushing for a rules-based maritime order and freedom of navigation.
