Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor R Priya on November 02 explained the preparedness for the North-East Monsoon in Chennai. She said that they have identified vulnerable locations that would be prone to chronic inundation in the North-East Monsoon Season.“Northern-East Monsoon is going to start. A huge responsibility is taking care of Chennai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is very concerned that the public shouldn’t be affected at any cost during the North-East Monsoon Season. So Chennai Corporation has taken large steps for the North-East Monsoon. We have taken over the drain projects from last year which have been carried by the Chennai Corporation. We have identified vulnerable locations in each zone that would be prone to chronic inundation in North-East Monsoon Season this year. In extended areas, like Madhavaram, Manali and other places, a huge work has been carried out…. The remaining work also will be completed before January 2024. For this, North-East Monsoon, we have deployed 10 persons of each squad. So that the work won’t be delayed and wherever the inundation is identified at the point…We have alerted the sensors in each subway and canal in which the water level increases in such places,” said R Priya.
