A widely circulated video on social media claiming to show Indian Navy MARCOS capturing Somali pirates has been proven misleading. The footage, which depicts armed personnel detaining individuals on a vessel, was falsely linked to an anti-piracy operation, gaining significant traction online. However, fact-checks confirmed that the video is actually from the India-Seychelles joint military exercise “LAMITIYE 2026,” held in March. The exercise involved the Indian Armed Forces and Seychelles Defence Forces and focused on enhancing maritime security coordination and operational readiness.
