Finland’s President Alexander Stubb has sent a strong message to New Delhi that India cannot afford to remain on the sidelines of the Ukraine war. Speaking at the Helsinki Security Forum 2025, Stubb said, “India has a geopolitical stake here. We need to get them involved.” He revealed he has been in touch with PM Modi and called for India’s role in facilitating dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv. The Finnish leader laid out his roadmap: a ceasefire first, followed by a bilateral date for Zelenskyy and Putin, leading to peace negotiations. Stubb also stressed on ramping up sanctions against Russia and boosting Ukraine’s military capability. His remarks come after his talks with PM Modi last month, where both sides also reviewed India-Finland ties, EU trade deals, and cooperation in 6G, AI, and sustainability.
