Former President Pranab Mukherjee receives Bharat Ratna

Former President Pranab Mukherjee received Bharat Ratna from President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. Dr Bhupen Hazarika's son Tez Hazarika received BharatRatna award on his behalf. Legendary Assamese singer Bhupen Hazarika was conferred Bharat Ratna posthumously. Virendrajeet singh received the award on behalf of Nanaji Deshmukh who was also conferred Bharat Ratna posthumously. Later, Pranab Mukherjee was congratulated by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries.
