At Exercise PRAGATI 2026, the Indian Army’s trained military dogs showcased their skills alongside troops from friendly foreign nations, highlighting their importance in modern combat operations. The K9 teams demonstrated capabilities such as explosive detection, tracking and intervention support during multinational tactical drills. The display featured Alan, a Belgian Malinois assault dog, Victor, a Rampur Hound tracker dog, and Deo, a Labrador trained in explosive detection. A major highlight was the participation of the indigenous Rampur Hound, reflecting the Army’s focus on self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat. The exercise also demonstrated the dogs’ adaptability across terrains ranging from deserts to glaciers. In addition, robotic dogs were showcased, presenting a blend of traditional K9 operations and emerging military technology aimed at strengthening future battlefield effectiveness.
