India Has 60 Days Of Crude Oil LNG; 45 Days Of LPG; Oil Firms Losing ₹1,000 Cr A Day: Hardeep Puri
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India is well prepared to manage supply disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia, stating that the country currently holds around 60 days of crude oil reserves, LNG supply, and about 45 days of LPG stock. Speaking at the CII Annual Business Summit 2026, he noted that oil marketing companies are facing significant daily losses, while LPG production has been increased substantially to meet demand. He highlighted that despite global energy challenges, India has managed to turn the situation into an opportunity. Puri also clarified that there is no plan for any lockdown and described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for austerity as a wake-up call to reduce fiscal pressure amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
