Indian army plans major reform, 1.5 lakh jobs likely to be shed
In a move to restructure Indian army, General Bipin Rawat has called for a study to prepare the force for a conflict in 21st century. The army chief wants a more technology driven army - a leaner and meaner army - with fewer troops. According to reports, the army plans to shed 1.5 lakh troops in next 5 years and the restructuring efforts are expected to begin from October 2018.
