In a massive win for India’s fight against Left Wing Extremism, top Maoist leader Nambala Keshav Rao, aka Basavaraju, has been neutralised by security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad forests. Basavaraju, the 70-year-old general secretary of the banned CPI (Maoist), was the most wanted Maoist in India, with a reward of ₹1.5 crore on his head. This high-stakes encounter, one of the most decisive anti-Naxal operations in years, saw 26 Maoists eliminated.
