It's official, farmer deaths by suicide are going down

Almost one person was dying of suicide every four minutes in India in 2019 as per the latest data released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). But there is some silver lining in the data as even though the number of suicides in India increased by 3.4% from 1.34 lakh in 2018 to 1.39 lakh in 2019, the number of farmers committing suicide fell from 10,357 in 2018 to 10,281 in 2019.
