Lure of gold draws hundreds to Bulgaria's rivers

Bent upon their green pans, knee-deep in the waters of the Tundzha river in central Bulgaria, some dozen men and women wash the gravel looking for specks of gold. Gold panning has been turning into a popular pastime or even a full-time occupation for hundreds of people in the European Union's poorest country summer after summer.
