Indian Railways is moving ahead at a rapid pace to modernise the stations across the country. The Indian Railways is making rapid advancements in improving the infrastructure and passenger facilities. Under this, redevelopment work for Madurai Junction Railway Station in Tamil Nadu is in full swing. The proposed redevelopment of the station is estimated to cost around Rs 347.47 crore. The redevelopment project would be completed in 36 months. Southern Railways has proposed the construction of two terminals, one each on the Eastern and Western sides of the station. Three multi-level parking structures have also been proposed at the newly developed railway station. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Indian Railways has undertaken the task of redevelopment of 1,275 railway stations across the country. All these railway stations are getting state-of-the-art facilities.
