Modi-Jaishankar Diplomacy Pays Off? Iran Allows LPG Ships With 'Friend' India's Flag Pass Hormuz
A major development has brought relief to India’s energy security amid rising tensions in the Gulf region. Iran has allowed two Indian-flagged LPG carriers to cross the critical Strait of Hormuz, easing fears of supply disruptions. The move came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the safety of maritime trade and energy shipments. External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also spoke with Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional stability. Earlier, Iran’s ambassador Mohammad Fathali had hinted that Indian ships would receive safe passage through the strait. As one of the world’s most important energy corridors, any disruption in Hormuz impacts global markets. For India, whose oil imports rely heavily on this route, the successful transit of LPG carriers offers a significant moment of relief.
