Mumbai–Pune Expressway’s ‘Missing Link’ Opens May 1: Faster Travel, Better Safety, No Extra Toll
The long-awaited Missing Link on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway is set to open on May 1, 2026, marking a major upgrade to one of India’s busiest highway corridors. The 13.3-kilometre stretch is designed to bypass the congested and accident-prone ghat section between Khopoli and Sinhgad, using advanced tunnels and viaducts to create a shorter, faster and safer route. The new alignment is expected to reduce travel time by up to 25 minutes and cut overall distance by more than 6 kilometres, while also improving fuel efficiency and easing congestion on the existing stretch.Shreya Chandra has more
