Rahul Gandhi Submits Dissent Note On CBI Chief Selection After Key Meet At PM Modi's Residence
Rahul Gandhi has expressed dissent over the selection process for the next CBI Director, writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the exercise was biased and lacked transparency. He said he could not abdicate his constitutional responsibility and maintained that the Leader of Opposition is not a rubber stamp. Gandhi alleged that he was not provided key documents such as self-appraisal and 360-degree reports of candidates, making a proper evaluation impossible. He further stated that the process appeared pre-decided and reduced the selection committee to a formality. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s residence with the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant also present, where Gandhi reportedly submitted a formal note of dissent.
