Southwest monsoon arrived in Kerala. IMD predicted in a statement on June 07 that meteorological conditions were becoming favourable for the onset of monsoon over Kerala till June 09. On June 08, IMD predicted that further advance is likely into more parts of the Arabian Sea, south peninsular India, the Bay of Bengal and Northeast India till June 10. Monsoon is crucial, especially for Kharif crops that are dependent on rains. India has three cropping seasons such as summer, Kharif and Rabi.
