The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced a significant organisational reshuffle in West Bengal following a key meeting at party chief Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata. Speaking after the meeting, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said that National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee will now be assisted by senior leaders Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen in party affairs. Banerjee also said that leaders at the state level will provide suggestions based on which various committees will be constituted to strengthen the party organisation. As part of the restructuring, Chandrima Bhattacharya has been appointed President of the West Bengal Pradesh Trinamool Congress. The party has also named Sajda Ahmed, Mamata Thakur, Nayana Bandyopadhyay and Swati Khandekar as Vice Presidents of the state unit. The appointments are being seen as part of TMC’s efforts to streamline its organisational structure ahead of upcoming political challenges in West Bengal.
