Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee escalated his attack on the Election Commission after a tense meeting over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal, alleging “vote theft” and intimidation of opposition leaders. He claimed Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar behaved aggressively, attempted to stop party members from speaking, and pointed fingers at him during the interaction. Banerjee asserted that as an elected representative, he was accountable to voters and would not stay silent if genuine voters were removed. He dared the CEC to face the media and release meeting footage. The BJP rejected the allegations, accusing TMC of shielding illegal voters and intimidating officials, and said the SIR process was necessary to clean up voter lists and would continue in Bengal.
