As the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election approaches, the Bharatiya Janata Party is stepping up its challenge to the All India Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal. During a rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out the BJP’s campaign narrative centred on law and order, corruption allegations, infiltration concerns, economic development and job creation. Women’s safety and welfare have also emerged as key political themes. The TMC is expected to counter these claims by emphasising its welfare initiatives, governance record and regional political identity, making the upcoming election a high-stakes contest in the state.
