In a recent turn of events, the former Managing Director of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, and his wife faced a setback at Delhi Airport. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) issued a lookout circular as part of an ongoing fraud probe. Subsequently, the couple was detained and directed to return for an inquiry by the Delhi Police. Grover expressed surprise at the delayed notice from the EOW. The BharatPe scandal deepened with the EOW uncovering backdated invoices. Joint Commissioner Sindhu Pillai revealed that the couple was en route to New York. While the lookout circular aimed to prevent international travel, no formal arrests were made. Grover, on social media, denied receiving prior notices from the EOW, despite an FIR filed in May. The immigration notification disclosed the EOW's lookout circular for Grover. The EOW's status report to the Delhi High Court highlighted irregularities in the invoices, connecting recruitment firms to fund diversion within Grover's family.
