BRICS, the Five Nation grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, will each push to further their agenda at the 15th summit in Johannesburg to achieve their foreign policy objectives and expand their influence within the group and across the globe. BRICS is essentially a movement of “emerging economies”, and thus gives a salience to economic issues, but given the geopolitical flux especially after the war in Ukraine, this BRICS summit takes on a new importance.
