Due to the rising water level of the Yamuna river, people, along with their families, were relocated from a slum in the Yamuna Khadar area to a relief camp in Mayur Vihar. More than 16000 people have been evacuated from several parts of Delhi. The situation has severely affected commuters as traffic movement was disrupted on various roads in Delhi. Closure of roads due to overflowing Yamuna resulted in heavy congestion, particularly in east Delhi, causing significant delays for passengers. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory urging commuters to avoid affected roads and plan their journeys accordingly. Non-destined commercial vehicles were directed to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressway, with diversions in place at Mukarba Chowk and Sarai Kale Khan. The advisory emphasized the restrictions on commercial vehicles between Mukarba Chowk and Wazirabad Bridge and between Sarai Kale Khan and IP flyover, diverting them from Ghazipur border and Akshardham towards DND.
