Forced conversions pose danger to India’s security, says Supreme Court
Hindu groups like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have often talked about it. Allegations of forced conversions have led to serious confrontation and even violence in tribal-dominated areas. But successive governments have pushed the issue under the carpet. Now the Supreme Court has called forced religious conversions - and conversions through deception and allurement as a danger to security of the country. The SC bench of Justices M R Shah and Hima Kohli asked the Centre to make sincere efforts to check the practice.
