Haryana State Government approves yoga clubs in higher education institutions to promote well-being and discipline
The Haryana state government has approved a proposal from the Haryana Yog Ayog to establish yoga clubs in all higher education institutions across the state. This initiative includes both private and government universities and colleges, drawing inspiration from existing models like the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corp (NCC), and Eco clubs. The emphasis is on voluntary participation in these yoga clubs, promoting awareness of the importance of yoga in daily life. This move streamlines the selection process for sending yoga practitioners to compete at various levels and aligns with the recognition of yoga as a sport by the central government. Trained instructors will oversee these clubs, aiming to impart not only yoga practices but also discipline, self-control, emotional stability, and overall physical and mental well-being to students.
