It's been barely 2 weeks since this historic wooden bridge was reopened to visitors and from all accounts it's been a roaring success. The Gartang Gali wooden bridge is located at a height of 11,000 feet and has been reopened after 59 years. It seems that landslides and heavy rains haven't dampened the mood of visitors here. The 150-year old wooden bridge is located in the Nelong Valley in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district near the Indo-China border. The ancient wooden skywalk was built by Peshawar Pathans as one of the routes for reaching Tibet from India over 150 years ago. The bridge has been renovated by the public works department at a cost of Rs 64 lakh.
