Schools in Mumbai hold programmes to mark Ashadhi Ekadashi ahead of the festival falling on July 10. Kids dressed in traditional wear took part in cultural programmes in various schools. At a school in Dadar, kids dressed up like Varkaris, Vitthals and Rukminis to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi. Varkaris are devotees who walk great distances to visit the Pandharpur temple. Lord Vitthal and Rukmini are the deities worshipped at Pandharpur temple. Ashadhi Ekadashi is considered to be a major festival in Maharashtra.
