Cold wave conditions returned to some parts of the national capital and much of north India on Sunday after a respite of five days, with a sharp drop in the minimum temperatures across Delhi-NCR and chilly northwesterly winds gusting through the day, which was clear and sunny.
Delhi shivered on Monday morning and recorded the season's lowest temperature. Safdarjung station recorded 1.4 degrees on January 16. The city experienced yet another coldest morning on Tuesday as temperatures dropped to 2.4°C.
Rajasthan’s Sikar became the coldest place in the state as temperatures dipped to minus 4.7 degree. Frost was seen setting on plants and other places.
The minimum temperature has fallen by 1-3° over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, east Rajasthan, northwest Madhya Pradesh & west Uttar Pradesh, and no significant change in the remaining parts of northwest India. The lowest minimum temperature of -2.5°C was observed over Churu (West Rajasthan).
Amidst falling temperatures, Twitter influencer Sagarcasm, who’s adept at posting memes, showed his creativity again by tweaking names of Indian cities and renaming them to rhyme and reverberate with the chilly weather.
He started a thread by renaming Kolkata as ‘Coldkata’.
Keeping foggy and shivering conditions in mind, Dehradun was rechristened as ‘Kohradun’ and Kanpur as ‘Kaanp-pur’.
Chambal as ‘Kambal’ and Shillong as ‘Chillong’.
Chandigarh as ‘Thandigarh’ and Begusarai as ‘Begurajai’.
The tweet thread went viral and engaged several users who came out with their own creative takes on Indian cities.
