Pakistan and Afghanistan played out a thrilling 'Super Four'-stage clash in the ongoing Asia Cup. Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah hit back-to-back sixes off the first two balls of the final over as Pakistan sealed a one-wicket win to assure themselves a place in the final alongside Sri Lanka.
During the game, tempers flared when Afghanistan bowler Fareed Ahmad struck twice in the 19th over including the key wicket of Pakistan’s big-hitting Asif Ali.
The fast bowler made a threatening gesture after running up to Ali, who in response raised his bat as the two players almost came to blows, turning the game played at Sharjah into an ill-tempered clash.
Ali then lost his cool and angrily waved his bat at Fareed in an unseemly spat after his dismissal in a tense finale.
After the match, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium witnessed unsavoury scenes as Afghanistan fans, disappointed with the loss, were seen breaking chairs and assaulting Pakistan supporters.
Several videos going viral on social media show Afghan fans throwing chairs on Pakistani fans. Some videos also showed Pakistani men being mercilessly beaten by Afghan fans.
Pakistani fans reportedly mocked, taunted and ridiculed Afghan fans inside the stadium, which led to an argument and started it all.
