Sky News recently reported that The ‌Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a notice, naming 8 different TV channels, citing they will soon undergo a license review. These reviews, as per the report, were supposed to begin around October 2028; however, they have been preponed due to a “year-long discrimination investigation.”





Recently, during the White House Correspondents Association dinner, shots were fired at attendees, including US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and many others. A few days prior to the shooting, Kimmel, while on his show, had performed a skit about Donald Trump and Melania Trump. He had commented about how the First Lady had a “glow like an expectant widow.”

Following his comment, many officials, including both the First Lady and Donald Trump, have been calling for Kimmel’s removal from the TV channel. The US President also taken to his social media account and posted about the matter, citing that “I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel's despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said, but this is something far beyond the pale.”

Melania Trump also took to her accounts in order to express her disdain with Jimmy Kimmel, as well as the popular TV network hosting his show, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ She wrote that Kimmel’s rhetoric was meant to divide the country. She further added that “His monologue about my family isn't comedy - his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America.”

In response to the backlash, Kimmel had talked about the matter on an episode that aired on Monday, stating his comment was not an attempt to call for violence, instead it was a witty remark about the couple’s age difference. “It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he's almost 80 and she's younger than I am. It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination,” he stated.
