Rebecca Gayheart, 54, shared the collection on her Instagram Stories on February 21, 2026. Eric Dane can be seen smiling with Billie Beatrice Dane, 15, and Georgia Geraldine Dane, 13, during birthdays, holidays, and everyday family bliss. One photo shows Eric Dane embracing the girls in a warm group hug, while another captures him laughing during a holiday celebration.




Eric Dane passed away on February 19, 2026, at age 53, just 10 months after announcing his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis. His family shared in a statement to People, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

A bond beyond separation

Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane met in 2003 and married in Las Vegas less than a year later. They separated in 2018, but their divorce was never finalized.

In a December 2025 essay for The Cut, Rebecca Gayheart explained, “There are times that shifts aren’t covered, so I cover them. There was a 12-hour shift recently that I could not cover. I could only do four hours because of all the stuff that the kids are doing.” On the Broad Ideas podcast in November 2025, she told her daughters, Billie Beatrice Dane and Georgia Geraldine Dane, “He is our family. He is your father. We show up, and we try to do it with some dignity and some grace and just get through it.”

Rebecca Gayheart reflected in Parade, “Eric knows that I am always going to want the best for him. That I’m going to do my best to do right by him. And I know he would do the same for me.”

Co-stars rallied with heartfelt words. Patrick Dempsey, who worked with Eric Dane on 'Grey’s Anatomy,' shared on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on February 20, “I feel really so sad for his children. I was corresponding with him, we were texting, so I spoke to him about a week ago… He was the funniest man, he was such a joy to work with… There was just this wonderful mutual respect.”

Kate Walsh posted on Instagram, “I’m at a loss for words to try to express the sadness around Eric’s passing. First and foremost I am thinking of his girls and Rebecca and holding them in my prayers and my heart. I loved his sensitivity and vulnerability (and intelligence, of course)… Eric was such a source of support and love.”
