Shahid Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Ajay Devgn: Bollywood actors who will debut in the digital space in 2021

Streaming platforms opened up a plethora of opportunities for actors during 2020 and several Bollywood celebrities have swiftly migrated from the big screen to OTT. From Kajol enthralling the audience with her performance in ‘Tribhanga’ to Abhishek Bachchan entertaining fans with ‘The Big Bull’ – Bollywood actors exploded on multiple streaming platforms ever since the country went under a lockdown last year. And this year too, some interesting OTT debuts are being planned. From Ajay Devgn to Shahid Kapoor–take a look at promising web debuts of 2021.

Ajay will debut in an action-packed avatar in the digital space. In April this year, he announced crime-thriller 'Rudra - The Edge Of Darkness'. This will be the actor's first crime-drama series on OTT, and is reportedly a remake of British series ‘Luther’. Speaking about his debut on OTT, Ajay had told PTI, “Rudra - The Edge of Darkness is a compelling and highly intriguing story and I can't wait to begin this new journey! Playing a cop on screen is not new to me, but this time the character is more intense, complex and dark. What drew me most to his persona, is that he is possibly the greyest character you may come across in recent times”.

Madhuri will foray onto streaming platforms with a seemingly promising web series titled ‘Finding Anamika’. While she plays the lead in this web series, Madhuri’s act will be supported by Sanjay Kapoor, Manav Kaul, Lakshvir Saran, Suhasini Muley, and Muskkaan Jafari. Madhuri essays the title role in this web-series which narrates the story of a global superstar, wife, and mom who suddenly goes missing without a trace. As the police and loved ones search for her, Anamika aka Madhuri’s facade is stripped away, revealing hidden truths and painful lies of her life as an iconic actress.

Shahid is also gearing up to entertain on OTT with a quirky drama series directed by Raj and DK. This yet-untitled web-series promises a whole lot of thrills and will reportedly feature Raashi Khanna as Sasha's leading lady. Speaking about his digital debut, Shahid had previously shared in a statement, “I loved the story idea when I first heard it and since then it has been an exciting ride so far! Can’t wait to share this series with the audience”.

Sonakshi is set for a smashing debut on OTT as she plays the lead in the tentatively titled ‘Fallen’. She began shooting for the web series with Vijay Varma and Gulshan Devaiah in December 2020. The actress essays the role of a cop by the name of Anjali Bhaati in her maiden series, which is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi. Sonakshi wrapped the shoot of ‘Fallen’ in March 2021 and had then shared, “What a journey 'Fallen' has been. Leaving this set with such amazing memories, new friends, bike riding skills, and a heart full of happiness!”
