The upcoming web series 'UP 77' has landed in legal trouble just days before its release.Richa Dubey who is the wife of late gangster Vikas Dubey, has moved the Delhi High Court seeking to stop the release of the show. The series is scheduled to stream on OTT on December 25, 2025. Reports say that the Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Union government and also the makers of the series. The case was heard by Justice Sachin Datta.

Objection over personal life

Richa Dubey’s main objection is about the series showing her personal and private life. Her counsel, Azra Rehman, spoke clearly about the concern. She said the web series goes beyond crime and enters family space.“The petition that has been moved before the Delhi High Court is by Richa Dubey, wife of the deceased Vikas Dubey. The primary objection is that this concerns her personal life,” Rehman said in an interview with ANI.She added that the show shows how Vikas Dubey became a gangster and also talks about private matters.

Impact on children and family

Azra Rehman said the series shows Vikas Dubey’s love story and family moments. She said this can badly affect Richa Dubey and her children.“They have depicted how he developed as a gangster, his private life, his love story, and a chapter on his family life.
It will affect the petitioner and her sons and ridicule their personal and emotional lives,” she told.She also said the matter is listed for the appearance of the private respondents.

'UP 77' stars Vikram Kochhar as Vishal Dubey. The character is based on a feared gangster from Kanpur. The trailer shows his rise in the crime world and his fight with the Uttar Pradesh Police. It shows violence, power, and fear across the state.After allegedly trying to escape from custody Vikas Dubey was killed in a police encounter in 2020.
