'Parasite' actor Lee Sun-kyun's funeral details have been revealed. The actor's agency released an official statement on his demise and announced that the star will be laid to rest in a private funeral ceremony.
HODU&U Entertainment released a statement confirming Lee Sun-kyun's demise on Wednesday, December 27. The statement published on allkpop.com read, "We are sorry to bring you sad news. Actor Lee Sun-kyun passed away on December 27."
Addressing the rumours surrounding the actor's demise, the statement read, "We respectfully ask that you refrain from spreading false facts based on speculation or speculation and malicious reports based on them so that the deceased's final journey will be in peace."
Without revealing the date or time or place where the family intends to conduct the last rite rituals, the statement revealed that the funeral will be "held quietly with the bereaved family and colleagues in attendance."
Best known for his role in the Oscar-winning film 'Parasite', Lee was discovered unconscious inside his parked car in Seoul's Waryong Park.
Authorities reportedly responded to an emergency call from Lee Sun-kyun's wife, who had found what appeared to be a suicide note at their residence.
Photographers and media outlets at the scene shared visuals of police conducting their investigations which included searching the actor's car. Men were spotted with face masks and full body suits, covering up the car with plastic sheets and umbrellas to prevent the paparazzi from taking photos. An ambulance with darkened windows was later spotted arriving at the scene, presumably to transport the actor's body.
Soompi reported that upon arriving at the scene, police discovered evidence of lit charcoal briquettes inside the actor's car, hinting at the possibility of suicide.
News of his sudden demise comes months after Lee Sun-kyun had been under the scanner on charges related to illegal drug use.
The actor received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his role in 'Parasite'.
He also starred in the TV series My Mister (2018), Coffee Prince (2007), and most recently, in the mystery thriller film Sleep.
Lee Sun Gyun is survived by his wife and two children.
