Known for his on-screen chemistry with Lee Sung-min from their previous collaboration in the drama ‘Reborn Rich’, which achieved a remarkable peak viewership rating of 26.9%, Song Joong-ki praised Lee Sung-min's comedic skills in ‘Handsome Guys’. "I think comedy is the hardest genre", Song Joong-ki remarked, "but watching him, I thought, ‘He’s taking comedy to a divine level’”, as quoted by Kbizoom.

Describing ‘Handsome Guys’ as a "rare, unique genre", Song Joong-ki revealed his personal affinity for comedy, stating, "I have a subtle desire for comedy. Actors also have a personal desire to be funny. I’m one of those actors who is different from their appearance. Watching it, I thought of many different genres of films". His interest in the genre was palpable as he expressed enthusiasm about potentially joining the cast for the second season.

During the event, the topic of a sequel arose naturally, with Lee Sung-min suggesting, “If the movie does well and season 2 comes out, how about having handsome actors like Jung Woo-sung and Song Joong-ki between Jae-pil and Sang-goo?” In response, Song Joong-ki quipped, "I don’t want to stand next to Woo-sung. He’s untouchable", evoking laughter from the audience and showcasing his playful rapport with his colleagues.

‘Handsome Guys’, released on June 26, revolves around Jae-pil, played by Lee Sung-min, and Sang-goo, portrayed by Lee Hee-joon, who want to live a rural life only to encounter unexpected supernatural occurrences in their new home. The film's blend of humor and horror has resonated well with audiences, setting the stage for a potentially successful sequel that could see Song Joong-ki adding his comedic talent to the mix.
