Austria school shooting: Police say assailant used two weapons; what we know about the attacker
In a shocking incident, 11 people were killed, including the suspected attacker, after multiple shots were fired in a school in Graz city of Austria, on Tuesday. Special forces were present at the BORG Dreierschützengasse high school after they received a call at 10 am (local time).
According to Austrian press agency, mayor Elke Kahr described the events as a "terrible tragedy" and said that the deceased individuals included seven students and one adult. Many people were taken to hospitals with injuries, he added.

What we know about the attacker:
Authorities said that school has been evacuated and everyone has been taken to a safe place. The situation at the school is "secured", and no longer believed to be any danger.

Talking about the incident, European Union spokesperson Paula Pinho said that "we would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire city of Graz in Austria. And we stand together in mourning while we seek clarity in the wake of this horrible event in a school."

What we know about the attacker:
- Austrian public broadcaster ORF, citing police, said that a 21-year-old man, reportedly a former student of the school, was behind the shooting, which led to the school's evacuation.
- Authorities said the assailant used two weapons during the incident, which appeared to have been owned legally.
- However, the motive behind the attack is uncertain, but police said that the assailant killed himself in a toilet after shooting nine people. At least 12 others were wounded, some of them seriously.
