Indian national among two killed in Saudi Arabia as Iran strikes hit residential areas

Two people, including an Indian national, were killed and 12 others injured after a projectile hit a residential area in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Kharj governorate south of Riyadh on Sunday, the Kingdom’s civil defence ministry told news agency Reuters.

“The strike resulted in the deaths of two individuals of Indian and Bangladeshi nationalities, injuries to 12 Bangladeshi residents, and material damage,” the ministry said in a statement.




Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted radar systems in locations including Al-Kharj.

The strike comes amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East that erupted after joint US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28 killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials, and were followed by retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Iranian forces.

Since then, Iran has targeted a range of sites across the region, including US military bases and installations in Gulf countries, radar and military systems in Saudi Arabia, fuel and oil depots, desalination plants in Bahrain, and other civilian and strategic infrastructure.

The conflict has seen missile and drone attacks across the region, including strikes on US bases, Lebanese cities, and Iranian facilities.

The ongoing conflict in the region has also prompted evacuations of Iranian diplomats from Beirut, raised civilian casualties in Lebanon, and triggered Israeli airstrikes on Tehran oil storage sites and Lebanese locations.
