The Indian Embassy in Iran announced that it will be gradually winding down its evacuation exercise for Indian nationals, initiated after the escalated conflict in the region following Israel's military operations on the Islamic Republic, as a ceasefire deal was made between the two countries on Tuesday.

In a post on X, the Embassy detailed the closure of the contact desk set up for registering new names of Indian nationals for evacuation, while assuring continued monitoring of the security situation.

"Announcement from Embassy of India, Tehran: Since there has been an announcement of ceasefire, the Embassy is gradually winding up the evacuation exercise initiated during the military conflict in Iran. Hence the Embassy has closed the contact desk that was opened to register new names for evacuation. At the same time, Govt. of India is keeping a careful eye on the evolving situation & will reassess its strategy in case there is again a threat to the security of Indian nationals in Iran," the Embassy stated.

A preliminary classified US intelligence report has found that recent American airstrikes on Iran only delayed its nuclear program by a few months, falling short of President Donald Trump’s claims that the facilities were destroyed.

According to US media citing sources familiar with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) findings, the strikes did not eliminate Iran’s centrifuges or its stockpile of enriched uranium. Instead, they reportedly sealed off access points to some nuclear sites but left the underground infrastructure largely intact.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the report’s authenticity but dismissed its conclusions, calling it “flat-out wrong.” She also noted that the assessment had been classified as “top secret” and criticized its unauthorized leak.

"The leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump, and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program," Leavitt posted on X.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel's war against Iran brought the country's nuclear programme “to ruin.”
Speaking in a televised statement, he listed Israel's achievements in the war, including its attacks on top generals and nuclear scientists.

He said Israel destroyed nuclear facilities in Natanz and Isfahan, along with the Arak heavy water reactor.

“For dozens of years, I promised you that Iran would not have nuclear weapons and indeed ... we brought to ruin Iran's nuclear programme,” Netanyahu said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday declared a “historic victory” over Iran following the 12-day conflict and warned that Israel would not allow Tehran to rebuild its nuclear programme.

In a televised address after the ceasefire came into effect, Netanyahu said, "We have achieved a historic victory." "Iran will never have a nuclear weapon," he told viewers in the near-10-minute speech.

"We have thwarted Iran's nuclear project. And if anyone in Iran tries to rebuild it, we will act with the same determination, with the same intensity, to foil any attempt," he added.

Earlier, Israeli military chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stated that the strikes had set back Iran’s nuclear programme *“by years,”* and noted that the operation was now *“entering a new phase.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced the "end of the 12-day war" imposed by Israel, in a message to the nation carried by the official IRNA news agency on Tuesday.

"Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the ending of this 12-day war imposed by the adventurism and provocation" of Israel, Pezeshkian said.

Israel's military said Tuesday it was lifting restrictions on public gatherings, workplaces and education resulting from the war with Iran after a ceasefire brought a fragile end to 12 days of conflict.

"Following the situational assessment and the approval of Minister of Defence, Israel Katz, it was determined that as of today (Tuesday), at 20:00... all areas of the country will shift to full activity without restriction," the military said in a statement, adding that the guidelines will be effective until Thursday evening.

Israel's focus will shift back to its fight against Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza after a ceasefire ended 12 days of war with Iran, the country's military chief said on Tuesday.

"Now the focus shifts back to Gaza — to bring the hostages home and to dismantle the Hamas regime," chief of staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said in a statement shared by the army.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged Iran and Israel to respect the ceasefire that went into effect Tuesday after 12 days of war.

"The fighting must stop. The people of the two countries have already suffered too much," Guterres said on X, adding that he hoped the truce could be replicated in other conflicts in the region, such as the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

At his grocery store in an Iranian neighborhood of Los Angeles, Mohammad Ghafari is worried sick about his brothers and sisters since the United States bombed the Islamic republic's nuclear sites.

But as he stands among his dates, dried plums and pistachios, he also cherishes the hope of change in his native country.

Iran "is not capable of providing food to the Persian people," said Ghafari, who left to study abroad before the 1979 revolution and never returned.

"If the people (there) were happy about a change of regime, I would be too."

"Everyone would be happy," agreed Fereshteh, one of his clients and a fellow resident of so-called "Tehrangeles" -- a mash-up of Tehran and Los Angeles.

For Fereshteh, who gave only her first name to protect her identity, "Donald Trump is a hero."

The American president ordered strikes against three Iranian nuclear sites last weekend, providing unprecedented support to Israel in its offensive against Iran.

He even raised the possibility of "regime change," before backing away and saying it would chaos.

Any talk of ousting Iran's clerical leadership resonates strongly in the Los Angeles area, where nearly 200,000 Iranian-Americans live, making the Californian metropolis the diaspora's global hub.

Many of its members live in the west end of the city, near the UCLA campus.

Filled with Middle Eastern grocery stores, carpet merchants and bookstores selling books in Farsi, the neighborhood is also known as "Little Persia."

The immigrants who have made it their home include minorities often seen as discriminated against in Iran such as Jews, Christians and Assyrians.

The head of Israel's military said Tuesday that the country had set back Iran's nuclear programme "by years" during 12 days of strikes and the campaign against the country was now "entering a new phase".

"We have concluded a significant phase, but the campaign against Iran is not over. We are entering a new phase based on the achievements of the current one," Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said in a statement.

"We've set Iran's nuclear project back by years, and the same applies to its missile program."

Iran's prison authority has transferred inmates out of Evin prison after it was hit by Israeli strikes, the judiciary said on Tuesday.

The prison authority "transferred the inmates who were serving their sentences in this prison (Evin) to other facilities within Tehran province... to safeguard the rights of the prisoners and to provide space for emergency response teams," the judiciary's Mizan Online website said.

Iranian media reported that the process of transferring the prisoners had been completed, but did not specify how many inmates were moved.

Media also reported that authorities on Tuesday defused two unexploded missiles that landed near the prison during an Israeli strike the day before.

"Two unexploded missiles that had been fired yesterday and landed in the vicinity of Evin prison were defused and safely transferred to a secure location," Tasnim news agency reported, citing a police spokesman.

Earlier, judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir said multiple people were killed and wounded in the strike on the prison on Monday, state TV reported.

"Due to this destruction, a number of our fellow citizens, including administrative and judicial staff, visiting civilians, family members of inmates and the inmates themselves, were injured, and we have had martyrs in this incident," he said.

The strike destroyed part of the administrative building at Evin, a large, heavily fortified complex in the north of Tehran, which rights groups say holds political prisoners and foreign nationals.

Later, the ISNA news agency published footage of the damaged part of the prison showing destroyed walls, collapsed ceilings, scattered debris, and broken surfaces across waiting areas.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that his country was not seeking nuclear weapons but would continue to defend its "legitimate rights" in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

As a fragile ceasefire with Israel took hold after 12 days of fighting that also included US strikes, Pezeshkian told his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates that the two countries "cannot impose unjust aspirations by force".

"We expect you to explain to them, in your dealings with the United States, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is only seeking to assert its legitimate rights," Pezeshkian said during a call with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed.

"It has never sought to acquire nuclear weapons and does not seek them," he was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency, adding that Iran was "ready to resolve the issues... at the negotiating table".

The war between the longtime regional foes saw Israel strike Iranian nuclear facilities and killed nuclear scientists and the country's top military brass.

On Sunday, Israel's ally the United States launched unprecedented strikes of its own on Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz.

A loud blast heard in Damascus on Tuesday was caused by a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance by authorities, Syria's official SANA news agency reported.

"The explosion heard a short while ago in the vicinity of the capital resulted from the detonation of war remnants by the competent authorities," SANA said on messaging network Telegram.

Syrian authorities had not issued any warning ahead of the detonation.

The official Alekhbariah TV channel initially reported "a loud explosion of unknown origin in the city of Damascus" without giving further information.

Two AFP correspondents also heard the blast.

Oil prices sank and stock markets rose Tuesday as a ceasefire between Iran and Israel appeared to be taking hold after US President Donald Trump berated both countries for violating the truce.

Crude futures slumped in volatile trading after Trump announced a ceasefire.

"This morning's ceasefire further reduced the perceived threat to Middle Eastern oil supply routes," said David Morrison, analyst at Trade Nation.

The main international and US oil contracts briefly bounced off their lows as Israel and Iran accused each other of breaking the ceasefire, but then fell around five percent after Trump berated the two countries in an expletive-laced outburst.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said later his country will respect a ceasefire if Israel also upholds its side of the terms, while Israel said it refrained from further strikes after a phone call between Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Prices were also brought down by Trump saying that China could continue to buy oil from Iran, in what appeared to be relief from sanctions Washington had previously imposed.

Oil prices had already fallen by more than seven percent on Monday after Iran's response to US strikes on its nuclear facilities was limited to choreographed missile launches on a US military base in Qatar.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that Israel and the United States "cannot impose unjust aspirations by force", as a fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel took hold after 12 days of fighting.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran was forced into the military conflict to defend itself, and I hope that we will never be forced to fight again," Pezeshkian said during a phone call with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed, according to the official IRNA news agency.

A loud explosion was heard in Damascus on Tuesday, echoing across the Syrian capital, AFP correspondents reported.

Syria's official Alekhbariah channel reported "a loud explosion of unknown origin in the city of Damascus". An AFP correspondent said he heard the sound of an explosion while driving his car in the capital's central Umayyad Square.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Tuesday that a European accused of spying on "sensitive and military" sites was arrested in the country's south.

The arrest came as a fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel took hold after 12 days of fighting, and followed multiple local media reports in recent days of individuals detained on accusations of spying for Israel.

"A European was arrested by security forces from the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps... in Hormozgan province" in the south, the Guards' Sepahnews website said, noting "the individual... entered Iran as a tourist".

"He was gathering intelligence on sensitive and military sites," it added, without elaborating on who the suspect was accused of working for.

Iran has vowed swift trials for people arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

Authorities have also announced the executions of several people convicted of working with Israel's spy agency, the Mossad.

On Monday, Iranian authorities arrested a European national on suspicion of spying for Israel.

On Friday, media reported that another European national was arrested on suspicion of espionage.

China's foreign minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday that Beijing supports Iran in achieving a 'genuine ceasefire', as Israel accused Tehran of violating a fragile truce.

"China supports Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, and, on that basis, achieving a genuine ceasefire so that people can return to normal life," Wang told his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in a phone call, according to a Chinese foreign ministry statement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the country "refrained" from further strikes on Iran on Tuesday after a call with US President Donald Trump.

Israel had accused Tehran of violating a fragile ceasefire agreement by firing two missiles, with Defence Minister Israel Katz immediately promising "to respond forcefully".

But Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Tuesday to tell Israel "do not drop those bombs", before he angrily accused the country and Iran of ceasefire violations.

Wang, in his call with Araghchi, said that China had immediately "voiced condemnation" after US strikes on key nuclear facilities in Iran on Saturday.

"Military strikes on nuclear facilities that are under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency seriously violate the purposes of the UN Charter and international law," Wang added.

India on Tuesday evacuated over 1,100 citizens from Iran and Israel amid ongoing tensions between the two countries, taking the number of evacuees under Operation Sindhu to 3,170.

It brought back 594 Indians from Israel, using C-17 heavy-lift aircraft of the Indian Air Force to fly out over 400 people after they were moved out of Israel to Jordan and Egypt by land transit points.

Also, 161 Indians were brought back in a chartered flight from Amman after they moved to the Jordanian capital from Israel by road.

A total of 573 Indians, three Sri Lankan and two Nepalese nationals were evacuated from Iran in two chartered flights on Tuesday, according to details shared by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

With the fresh batches of evacuees from Iran, India has brought back 2,576 Indians from the Persian Gulf nation so far.

In total, India evacuated 3,170 Indians from Iran and Israel after Operation Sindhu was launched last week following the conflict between the two countries.

India, under Operation Sindhu, has successfully evacuated more than 2,500 of its nationals from conflict-hit Iran. The evacuees have lauded the efforts of the government and expressed gratitude for their safe return home.

Speaking to ANI, an Indian national, Saiyada Jeniffer Rizvi, described the situation in conflict-hit Iran as "terrible" and said they could have faced several problems if the Indian Embassy hadn't helped them.

"The condition in Iran was terrible. We would have faced many problems if the Indian embassy had not taken us to the hotels. Spending every moment was difficult. I also had my child with me. Thanks to the people of the embassy and the Modi government for bringing us here..." Rizvi said.

Another evacuated Indian national, Kasim, said, "... I am very happy to be home. The arrangements were very well..."

Syed Mehboob, the evacuee who belongs to Ladakh, expressed his happiness, stating, "I am from Ladakh. I lived in Qom in Iran. I have reached Delhi with the help of the embassy. I want to thank the embassy... I am very happy..."

Earlier today, another special flight carrying 281 Indian nationals, three Sri Lankan and two Nepalese nationals stranded in conflict-hit Iran landed safely in New Delhi.

Oil prices accelerated losses on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump said China can continue to buy Iranian oil, providing reassurance over crude supply in Middle East.

International benchmark Brent slumped 4.5 percent to $68.26 per barrel, while the main US crude contract WTI shed 4.6 percent to $65.34, after plunging earlier over a fragile Iran-Israel ceasefire.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that it will respect a ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump provided that Israel also upholds its terms.

"If the Zionist regime does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not violate it either," Pezeshkian said during a phone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, according to the presidency's website.

Israel "refrained" from further strikes on Iran on Tuesday after a call between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Netanyahu's office announced.

Trump had angrily accused both Iran and Israel of violating the ceasefire he had announced late on Monday but hours later he posted that it was now in effect.

"Following President Trump's conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from further strikes," a statement said.

"We have been following developments overnight relating to the conflict between Iran and Israel, including the US action against Iran’s nuclear facilities and Iranian retaliation against US military bases in Qatar," reads a press release by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he didn't want to see "regime change" in Iran amid its conflict with Israel, adding that it would cause "chaos."

"If there was, there was, but no I don't want it. I'd like to see everything calm down as quickly as possible," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. "Regime change takes chaos, and ideally we don't want to see so much chaos."

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Tuesday that a European accused of spying on "sensitive and military" sites was arrested in the country's south.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu held off a tougher response against Iran following a conversation with US President Donald Trump.

Several Iranian media outlets reported on Tuesday afternoon the sound of explosions in the country's north, after US President Donald Trump said an Iran-Israel ceasefire was now "in effect".

The Etemad and Ham Mihan newspapers said explosions were heard and air defences were activated in Babol and Babolsar, two towns about 200 kilometres (124 miles) northeast of Tehran on the Caspian Sea.

The source of the explosions was not immediately clear.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Tuesday that they had taught Israel an "unforgettable lesson" with a last-minute missile salvo fired just before a ceasefire deal announced by US President Donald Trump was meant to take effect.

The Guards said in a statement that "in the final moments before the ceasefire was imposed on the enemy", they had struck "military and logistical centres of the Zionist regime across the occupied territories (Israel) with 14 missiles, delivering a historic and unforgettable lesson to the Zionist enemy".

US President Donald Trump criticised Israel’s reaction to a missile fired from Iran during the ceasefire, suggesting that the country’s prolonged involvement in conflict has left it disoriented.

“They’ve been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” Trump said, referring to Israel’s actions in response to the missile.

US President Donald Trump has criticised Israel’s conduct during the recent conflict, saying he “didn’t like that Israel ‘unloaded’ immediately after agreeing to a ceasefire.”

He also accused both Israel and Iran of violating the terms of the ceasefire.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “Iran will never rebuild its nuclear program.” However, when asked directly whether the ceasefire had been broken, he replied, “I don’t think so.”

"As airspaces gradually reopen in certain parts of the Middle East, Air India will progressively resume flights to the region starting today, with most operations to and from the Middle East resuming from 25 June. Flights to and from Europe, previously cancelled, are also being progressively reinstated from today, while services to and from the East Coast of the US and Canada will resume at the earliest opportunity. Some flights may experience delays or cancellations due to consequential impacts and extended re-routings/flight times, but we are committed to minimising disruptions and restoring our schedule integrity. Air India will continue to avoid airspaces assessed as unsafe at any given time," said Air India spokesperson.

Qatar's prime minister persuaded Iran to agree to a US-proposed ceasefire with Israel after Tehran fired missiles at an American base near Doha, a source with knowledge of the talks said on Tuesday.

"Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani... persuaded Iran to agree to the proposal in a call with the Iranians," the source told AFP.

Iran's foreign minister said Tuesday his country's attack on a US airbase in Qatar was not against its Gulf neighbour but an act of "self-defence" after US strikes on nuclear sites.

"The missile operation by the Iranian Armed Forces targeting Al-Udeid base was carried out within the framework of Iran's legitimate right to self-defence," Araghchi said in a phone call with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

The Iranian attack "should in no way be interpreted as an action against the friendly and brotherly government of Qatar", he said, quoted in a statement from his ministry.

Qatar's prime minister on Tuesday said Iran's missile strikes targeting the US base on Qatari soil were an "unacceptable" attack on the country.
"The attack on the State of Qatar is an unacceptable act, especially that the State of Qatar has been making great diplomatic efforts in order to have the situation deescalated," Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani told reporters.

Iran's armed forces accused Israel of launching strikes at the Islamic republic until Tuesday morning, after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the two foes.

"The Zionist regime launched three waves of attacks on sites in Iranian territory until 9:00 am (0530 GMT) today," a spokesman for the armed forces command was quoted as saying on state TV, without providing further details.
