US-Israel-Iran War News Highlights: Iran launches barrage of missiles towards Israel; explosions heard in Dubai

Israel Iran War News: The conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has intensified into one of the most volatile crises in the Middle East in recent years, with missile strikes, drone attacks and air raids reported across several countries in the region. The confrontation began after coordinated American and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure, triggering a series of retaliatory attacks from Tehran and expanding the conflict beyond the three main adversaries.

Since the initial strikes, the war has rapidly spread across multiple fronts. Iran has launched ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli cities as well as US military installations across the Gulf region. Several countries hosting American bases including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait, have reported interceptions of drones or missile threats, highlighting the widening geographical scope of the conflict.

The fighting has also disrupted global energy routes, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The narrow waterway carries a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments, and fears that the conflict could affect tanker traffic have already pushed global energy markets into uncertainty.

Amid the escalating violence, US President Donald Trump has said Washington is in contact with Tehran but believes Iran is not yet ready to reach a deal. At the same time, he claimed US and Israeli strikes have significantly weakened Iran’s military infrastructure, including its air defence systems and drone production capabilities.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has said that nuclear material at Iranian facilities is currently buried under rubble following recent attacks, adding that it could only be retrieved under supervision from the International Atomic Energy Agency. With missile exchanges continuing and regional states increasingly affected, the crisis has raised global concerns about a wider war and a prolonged disruption to international energy supplies.

  • The war began after the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes inside Iran targeting military infrastructure and missile systems.
  • Iran responded with large waves of ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Israeli territory and US military bases across the Middle East.
  • The conflict quickly expanded across the region, with attacks and interceptions reported in Gulf states including the Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
  • The Lebanese group Hezbollah opened a northern front by firing rockets toward Israel, prompting Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.
  • The conflict has disrupted shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of a global energy crisis.
  • Oil prices surged amid concerns that tanker traffic through the Gulf could be severely affected.
Iran appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader following the killing of Ali Khamenei in the opening phase of the conflict.

US President Donald Trump has said Washington is in discussions with Tehran while also claiming Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said nuclear material at damaged facilities remains buried under rubble following attacks.

Trump seeks to delay China trip amid war with Iran
Donald Trump said the United States has asked to delay his planned visit to Beijing by about a month because of the ongoing war with Iran.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said it was still unclear whether he would travel to China at the end of the month. “We’re working on that right now,” he said.

“I’d love to, but because of the war, I want to be here. I have to be here, I feel. And so we’ve requested that we delay it a month or so, and I’m looking forward to being with them,” Trump said.

He added, “It’s very simple. We’ve got a war going on. I think it’s important that I be here, so it could be that we delay a little bit, not much.”

Earlier in the day, Scott Bessent said the trip might not take place as scheduled, but stressed that any delay would not be intended to pressure China to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran warns against attack on Kharg Island oil facilities
Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for the Iranian Army, has warned against any new attack on Kharg Island, days after the United States said it struck military facilities on the island.

Speaking in remarks carried by Tasnim News Agency, Shekarchi said, “US officials and military repeat that they want to attack Kharg Island.”

He warned that if the US launched another strike targeting the island’s facilities and oil terminal, “we will decisively turn all the oil and gas facilities of the country of origin of the aggression into ashes.”

Donald Trump has recently threatened further strikes on Kharg Island, which handles about 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports, after earlier attacks on military targets there triggered retaliation from Iran.

Trump says US will soon name countries helping reopen Strait of Hormuz
Donald Trump said that the US will “soon” announce the names of countries that have agreed to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, though he acknowledged that several allies have so far declined to participate.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said, “There are a couple, we’ll be announcing some names soon. There are some that really were right up front.”

The US president has been urging allies to support efforts to secure the key shipping route, which Iran has effectively closed since the US and Israel launched attacks more than two weeks ago. The disruption has triggered a global energy crisis and driven oil prices sharply higher.

Trump also expressed surprise at the reluctance of some nations to assist. “What does surprise me is they’re not eager to help,” he said, adding that countries heavily dependent on the strait for oil imports, such as China and Japan, “should be thanking us.”

On a scale of 0 to 10, he’s been an eight. Not perfect, but it’s France… I think he’s going to help. I spoke to him yesterday.”

Trump added, “I don’t do a hard sell on them because my attitude is that we don’t need anybody. We’re the strongest nation in the world. We have the strongest military by far in the world.”

Earlier, Macron spoke with Masoud Pezeshkian, president of Iran, urging him to stop attacks carried out by Iran or its proxies against countries in the West Asia region.

Iran Israel war: Attacks hit UAE after Iran blames it for strikes
Missile and drone strikes hit multiple locations across the United Arab Emirates, disrupting operations at Dubai International Airport, triggering a fire at a key oil facility and leaving one civilian dead. Iran has repeatedly targeted the UAE during the ongoing conflict, affecting commercial air travel and striking energy installations around the Strait of Hormuz.

The attacks have increased economic pressure on the oil-rich Gulf nation, a major hub for international travel and business. Even the normally quiet emirate of Umm Al Quwain was hit, where a drone strike damaged a building but caused no casualties, officials said.

The wave of strikes came a day after Abbas Araghchi claimed that US bases in the Middle East had been used to launch air raids and that missiles had been fired from the UAE to strike Kharg Island. UAE authorities have denied the allegation.

Middle East crisis: No bilateral talks with US about helping ships pass through Strait of Hormuz, says India
India said it has not held any bilateral discussions with the United States regarding the safe passage of merchant vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification from the ministry of external affairs came after Donald Trump urged several countries to deploy warships to keep the strategically vital shipping route open.

Global oil and gas prices have surged amid concerns that Iran could disrupt traffic through the narrow waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, which carries around 20 per cent of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. In a social media post, Trump called on countries such as China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom to send naval vessels to ensure the route remains “safe and open,” though no major power has announced a concrete response so far.

As the war enters third week, the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran is intensifying with no side ready to back down. Military strikes and retaliatory attacks are spreading across multiple countries in the Middle East. What began with coordinated American and Israeli strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure quickly escalated into a broader confrontation involving missile barrages, drone warfare and cross-border air raids.

The opening phase of the war saw extensive attacks on Iran’s air defence systems, missile launch facilities and military installations. Iranian authorities reported heavy damage across several cities, while the strikes also resulted in the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Following his death, Iran appointed his son Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader, signalling a continuation of Tehran’s hardline response to the attacks.

Iran retaliated by launching waves of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli cities and US military facilities across the region. Several Gulf countries hosting American bases soon found themselves drawn into the conflict as missiles and drones crossed their airspace or targeted infrastructure within their territory. Nations including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait reported interceptions of incoming drones and missile threats.

The conflict also expanded beyond the Gulf when the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah opened another front by launching rockets into northern Israel. Israeli forces responded with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, adding another theatre to an already complex war.

A major strategic flashpoint in the crisis has been the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway through which a large share of the world’s oil supply passes. The conflict has disrupted shipping through the corridor, triggering sharp volatility in global energy markets and raising fears of a wider economic shock.

Amid the continuing hostilities, US President Donald Trump has said Washington is in discussions with Tehran but believes Iran is not yet ready to reach a deal. He has also claimed that American and Israeli operations have severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities, including its missile stockpiles and drone production capacity.

Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said nuclear material at Iranian facilities is currently buried under rubble following attacks, adding that any potential recovery would take place only under supervision from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

With missile exchanges continuing, regional states increasingly affected and global markets reacting to the instability, the conflict has raised serious concerns about a prolonged war and its implications for international security and energy supplies.
