The Iran war continues to escalate with multiple fronts witnessing deadly clashes. US President Donald Trump on Monday issued a stark warning, threatening to destroy Iran’s energy infrastructure, including desalination plants, if a peace deal is not reached shortly. Trump told the New York Post that negotiations were underway with Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, a former Revolutionary Guard commander. Iran, however, denied any talks were taking place, calling US claims “fabricated” and warning against attempts to manipulate diplomacy.

In southern Lebanon, Israel has launched operations to drive out Hezbollah militants after rockets and drones were fired across the border. The fighting has taken a heavy toll on civilians and UN peacekeepers. In the past 24 hours alone, three Indonesian UN peacekeepers were killed amid ongoing hostilities. The UN has called an emergency Security Council meeting to address the deaths. The humanitarian impact is severe, with more than 1,240 people killed in Lebanon so far, including medical workers, and over a million displaced.

A Kuwaiti oil tanker was hit by a drone off Dubai, causing a fire. Emergency teams controlled the blaze, and all 24 crew members were reported safe. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted three ballistic missiles aimed at Riyadh, while debris from interceptions caused fires in Dubai, injuring four. Gulf allies are urging the US to continue its military campaign until Iran is decisively weakened, with some pushing for a ground invasion.

The war has affected global energy markets and economies. Oil prices remain high, prompting countries like the Czech Republic to release oil from state reserves. In the US, gasoline prices have risen sharply, affecting millions of workers who rely on personal vehicles. Stock markets are volatile, with investor sentiment shaken by uncertainty over how long the conflict will last.

Meanwhile, security threats extend beyond the battlefield. In Michigan, the FBI reported that a man inspired by Hezbollah attacked a synagogue. Nato intercepted missiles fired towards Turkey from Iran. Residents in Tehran face power outages, internet blackouts, and strict security checks, highlighting the growing domestic impact on Iranian civilians.

As the conflict drags on, diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes, but fractures within Iran’s leadership and conflicting reports from US officials make any immediate resolution uncertain.
