Weeks after Lebanon blasts, Emirates prohibits pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights

Emirates, a Dubai-based airline, has prohibited passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies in their checked or cabin baggage on all flights to, from, or via Dubai.

The decision comes after a series of sabotage attacks in Lebanon involving exploding communication devices, which Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group, blamed on Israel. The airline said that any "such items found in passengers' hand luggage or checked baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police."

In addition to the ban on communication devices, Emirates has extended flight cancellations for certain Middle East destinations due to the escalating regional tensions. The airline's routes to Iraq and Iran will remain suspended until Tuesday, following a massive Iranian attack on Israel earlier this week, which involved missiles being fired over Iraq and Iran.

Emirates also announced that its flights to Jordan, which had been temporarily suspended, would resume on Sunday. However, flights to and from Lebanon will continue to be suspended until October 15, as Israel intensifies its attacks on the country, including areas near Beirut's only airport.

The blasts in Lebanon last month resulted in the deaths of at least 37 people and injured nearly 3,000 others.

Several other airlines have also temporarily suspended some of their services to and from Beirut and other Middle East airports in response to the ongoing regional conflicts and security concerns.
