In what appeared to be a coordinated attack, southwest Colombia on Tuesday was rocked by a string of explosions and gun attacks that claimed three lives.
According to officials, four car bombs and three other explosive devices detonated in Cali and and three other towns, causing major damage. According to reports, buildings were gutted, storefronts were wrecked, and debris was scattered in the aftermath of the explosions.
Carlos Fernando Triana, head of police, told radio station La FM that two bombs went off in Cali and separate explosions were reported in Corinto, El Bordo and Jamundi, targeting police stations and other municipal buildings.
As per a report from AFP, its journalist saw the tangled wreckage of a car and a badly damaged building.
No group or organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. However, guerrillas are known to operate in the area.
This incident comes days after the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate in Bogota.
